boat

Background

I participated in the Point Zero Forum in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2023 as a researcher, attending over 10 roundtables and workshops. These sessions provided a deep dive into the future of finance and fintech with more than 1,000 regulators, financial leaders, and industry experts. This report, which I compiled and published through CFTE, encapsulates the key insights and discussions from the forum.

Executive summary

The Digital Assets Market is experiencing a substantial upswing, with institutional investors growing from 36% in 2020 to 58% in 2022. Central banks worldwide are exploring CBDCs, with over 100 of them already working on digital currencies. Prominent financial institutions like Goldman Sachs have launched their own digital asset platforms with the European Investment Bank issuing €100m blockchain bond. Adding to this momentum, the number of users in digital assets is expected to amount to roughly 1 billion users by 2027.

As new technology emerges and more stakeholders participate, a wealth of opportunities presents itself in the digital asset market. This year’s Point Zero Forum centred around the current trends, implementation strategies, opportunities, and challenges in the realm of digital assets.
